REGISTRATION
Registration fees for the conference will be U$ 90 at the conference for all participants.

ACCOMMODATION
University Guest House, Institute chalets. Rates between (U$30 and U$50),
Nearby Hotels about U$60-U$70.

TRANSPORT
It is expected that organizers will hire mini buses to convey participants from place of accommodation to conference venue.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Anthropologists working in and on Africa and beyond are invited to submit abstracts for the conference. Abstracts not more than 200 words should reach the above local organizers by 30th April 2004. A full text in MS WORD should be sent to reach the organizers no later than 30 May 2004. Electronic paper and abstract submissions preferred.

LANGUAGE OF THE CONFERENCE
The official language for the conference will be English. However, papers may be presented in French but participants MUST provide English translation of their abstracts and final paper.

FIELDTRIP
There are three possible places to be visited. The final decision will be taken by the organizing committee at a later stage. The places are as follows:

1. Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti paramountcy. It takes four hours to reach from Accra.
2. Kibi, the court of the Okyehene, king of Kyebi, which is about 60 miles from Accra on the Accra-Kumasi road.
3. Cape Coast: the ancient castles and forts are located here and along the Central Region coastal-line. It was the infamous gateway to the Americas for captives from the Gold Coast. Cape Coast in three hours drive from Accra.

FORMAT DE SOUMISSION DES COMMUNICATIONS
Les Anthropologues, travaillant en Afrique ou sur l’Afrique et même en dehors de l’Afrique sont invités à soumettre leur résumé pour la conférence. Ces résumés ne doivent pas excéder 200 mots et doivent être envoyés au plus tard le 30 Avril 2004, à:

Le texte complet de la communication doit être envoyé aux organisateurs sous le format MS WORD au plus tard le 30 Mai 2004, de préférence par courrier électronique.

LANGUE DE LA CONFERENCE
La langue officielle de la conférence sera l’Anglais. Cependant, les articles pourront être présentés en Français mais les participants devront fournir la traduction en Anglais du résumé et du texte final de leur communication.

VISITE ETHNOGRAPHIQUE
Trois sites pourront être visités, la décision finale du choix du site incombant au Comité d'organisation. Ces sites sont:

1. Kumasi: le siège de la souveraineté Ashanti. (4 heures d’Accra)
2. Kibi: la cour de Okyehene, Roi de Kyebi, (environ 60 km d’Accra sur l’axe Accra-Kumasi).
3. Cape Coast : les anciens châteaux et forts s'y trouvent ainsi que le long de la région centrale. C’était le chemin abominable des captifs vers les Amériques en provenance de la Gold Coast. Cape Coast est à 3 heures de route d’Accra .
